Google Classroom is a free collaboration application for teachers and learners. Teachers can create online classrooms, ask students to attend the class, and create and give out assignments. Learners and teachers can communicate about the assignments within the platform and teachers can monitor students’ progress. It is also a great way to share Google Meet video conferencing sessions, and also point students to previous sessions that have been recorded.
As of March, departments including Design Technology and History have utilised this resource for some of their KS4 classes. Teachers such as Mrs Batchelor, Mrs Lamming, and the DT team all independently setting up classrooms and pioneering the way. Computing and DT are currently working with IT Support to create KS3 Google classrooms to use after Easter.
Both teachers and students log in to Google classrooms with their school Gmail address.
