From 25 May 2018 there are new rules about data protection. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) changes how personal data can be used and also gives you stronger rights over your own data, for example we have to tell you what we do with your data and why we need it. There is a lot more information about this on the website of the Information Commissioner’s Office https://ico.org.uk/ and a useful video for parents is available here on YouTube.
There is also a new Data Protection Bill going through parliament, but this is not finalised yet, so there will be more changes to come over the next few weeks and months. We are currently updating our privacy notices for different groups of people including parents, pupils, staff and community users – these will be appearing here soon. In addition we will be updating policies and procedures to make sure that we are keeping your data safe and complying with the new rules.
Please find the Academy GDPR notice below.
