UPDATE : Both the swimming pool and changing rooms will be closed for refurbishment starting the 18th June. The pool is due to open later this year. A more specific date will be given closer to the time. Toilets will still be open and available within the foyer. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this.
We are extremely privileged to have such a fantastic facility.
Over the years the pool has been extensively developed and now boasts electronic pool covers and a digital filtration and heating system. Both changing rooms were refurbished only three years ago.
The pool at Branston is used extensively both by Branston Community Academy students and twelve surrounding Primary and Junior Schools during term time between 9am through to 4pm.
Students at the Academy will swim for a minimum of seven weeks in Years 7, 8, and 9 covering a wide range of aquatic based activities including, Life Saving, Personal Survival and Water Polo. All four strokes are looked at in detail and the ASA Laws governing the sport.
The pool is open at lunchtimes for students. It is utilised to improve children who have little or no previous swimming experience and is also available for a free fun session.
GCSE students gain a more in depth knowledge of the sport. They have to adapt their Life Saving and Survival skills and put them into practice when carrying out planned routines.
Current BTEC and previous ‘A’ level candidates who have studied swimming have found the subject area both challenging and rewarding.
The pool plays a big part in serving the community, it is available every evening and at weekends. At these sessions we offer a comprehensive learn to swim programme which includes family leisure swims, parent and toddler classes through to the advanced swimmer.
