Who do I contact?
- Any concerns regarding lessons should be made directly to the teacher or to the Head of Department of that subject.
- Personal issues should be referred to the tutor or to the Lower School Team.
- When you leave a telephone message please be aware that this is placed into staff pigeon holes. Most staff check these at the start of school each day. Consequently it may be 24 hours before they collect them. Staff have itmetable commitments and may not have the opportunity to call you back immediately. If you
have not had a call back after 48 hours please contact Mrs Campbell directly.
Meeting with staff
Please always call to make an appointment with a member of staff. Arriving without an appointment may well result in a wasted journey as they are likely to have teaching commitments.
What happens if a student is ill?
- On their return to school please complete the absence record in the front of the student planner.
- Should their absence be 3 days or more please contact the General Office on Lincoln 880400.

What if my child has to leave the school site/ arrives late?
- Students must report to the General Office and follow the signing in/ out procedures. Office staff will support them in doing this.
- Students are not allowed off site at lunch time. The only exception to this is if they live in Branston or are going to a named relative’s home in the village. The appropriate section of the student planner should be completed and will be checked by staff at the exit.
Can my child travel to the Academy by bike?
Of course they can. We have ample secure storage. They should enter the site via the Sports Hall gates and dismount immediately. Bikes should be “walked” to the storage site next to the tennis courts. Students will need a lock. We also advise that helmets, appropriate clothing and lights are used.
My child has "lost" an item. What should we do?
- Ensure all items of clothing, bags and valuables are clearly named.
- Ask them to go to the General Office and see if it has been handed it.
- If it is PE kit check with PE staff.
What happens with breaks and lunch time?
- The school canteen is open before school, at morning break and at lunch time. They sell a range of hot and cold food as well as drinks.
- There are 2 cooled drinking fountains in the dining room where students can refill bottles. Glasses are only available at lunch time. Water fountains are
also situated in the toilet blocks.
Homework
- Students will have a homework timetable. Each task should take around 20 to 30 minutes.
- Extended Home Learning Tasks are set over a period of weeks and replace homework for that subject during that period.
- If students have problems with their homework they should seek help from their teacher at the first opportunity.
- The library, the chill out room and ICT rooms are available at lunch time for students and they can do homework there.
- Many departments offer support at lunch times.
