A small team of Year 9 students entered this years STEM RTX Quadcopter Challenge. The team made it through the initial round of the competition with their ‘Dogcopter’ a machine designed to track and locate missing dogs for Doris Banham Dog Rescue in Retford. The three students involved (Joseph , George and William) learnt how to build, modify, maintain and fly their drone.Â

Last Tuesday at the regional finals held at Kesteven and Sleaford High School in Sleaford they presented their completed drone in front of a panel of expert engineers and then had to fly it through a very challenging obstacle course in the quickest time. Despite some excellent flying from George the boys sadly were unable to secure a spot at the national finals in London, however I’m sure you will agree they did very well to get this far!
