Staff Vs Students Football

On Thursday lunchtime the elite staff team took on the 6th form in a charity football match to raise money for Cancer Research and the Alzheimer’s society.
The 6th form took the lead early through a tap in following a defensive lapse. Despite the game going back and forth, the scoreline remained the same until half time.
Minutes into the second half a clearance from a 6th form defender was misjudged and bounced over Mr. Li and despite the best efforts of Mr Coward, he ended up putting the ball in his own net 0-2. The staff responded almost instantly with a bullet header from caretaker, Ethan Thompson. Despite staff pressure they could not make a breakthrough, until moments from time Mr. Cyburt found space on the edge of the box to unleash an unstoppable shot to square the game at 2-2, which is how it finished.
Most importantly £424 was raised for two excellent causes.

Peak District trip

Over the weekend a group of our students had their preparation weekend in the Peak District for our Expedition Trip to Romania in July. They displayed amazing teamwork skills, showed great resilience in challenging circumstances and lived by each of our BCA values. We are now looking forward to working with them in the Bear Sanctuary in Romania, hiking in the Carphatians, visiting Bucharest and Dracula’s Castle. They are all an absolute asset to our school and we couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of them.
Peak District Day 1
Day 1 – We arrived at the campsite and quickly set up all the tents for the weekend followed by cooking some delicious food. 🙂 It was lovely to see everyone doing their bit and preparing for the challenges that lay ahead over the weekend.
Peak District Day 2
Day 2 – We had an amazing hike to the top of Mam Tor and despite some little challenges, none of us gave up. We all made it by working as a team, showing kindness and just being  superstars. 🙂

U14 Netball East Midland National School Tournament

Last week our U14 Netball team represented East Midlands Region and Branston Community Academy. We were faced with triumphs, defeats and additional injuries. But the girls demonstrated great resilience and a sense of community, always supporting each other on and off the court.
Our spectators even had a special mention on the live stream! Thank you to parents, friends and staff for continued support.
Well done to our team of 10 students that are officially number 15 in the Country.
Thank you, PE
