Extra-Curricular Clubs

We encourage all students to participate in the extra-curricular programme we offer. Our clubs and activities are designed to be inclusive for all; the broad range on offer ensures that there is something for students of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to get involved with. We regularly review our offer to meet the ever-changing needs of our students.

As part of our wider personal development programme, our aim is to give students the opportunity to develop skills far beyond the academic. Students are able to develop confidence, resilience, leadership skills, life skills, problem solving skills, teamwork and much more, by engaging in one of our many clubs and activities.

In addition, students in year 9 upwards have the opportunity to take part in the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme.

The extensive sporting facilities on-site mean that students are particularly well served for PE. There are Academy teams and clubs in all sporting areas. These teams are the most successful overall in the Lincoln and Gainsborough leagues and enter more leagues than any other school.

The Academy has a wide reputation for its music and dramatic productions. The music and performing arts departments work closely with each other to showcase a variety of productions and events for students to get involved with. These include regular performances in assemblies, as well as other musical events, concerts and shows. In recent years, the Academy has presented major dramatic productions, including ‘Grease’, ‘Legally Blonde’ and ‘We Will Rock You’.

Many of the activities we offer involve visits outside of the Academy. Our students have enjoyed residential visits to Paris, Berlin and London with many more planned for the future. Fieldwork visits and other day visits are offered by subject departments and the pastoral teams.

Please encourage your young person to get involved with the wide range we have on offer or to speak to a member of staff if they would like more information.
