Anti-Bullying Week 2023 – Odd Socks Day

Anti-Bullying Week got started off with Odd Socks Day which saw a wide array of brightly coloured socks and an amazing display of designs for the Odd Socks Competition.

The winners of the Odd Sock competition were presented with their prizes on Thursday, odd socks of course!

Throughout the week, our Community Ambassadors were on hand to collect and organise donations for Branston foodbank.

On Thursday, we delivered a car load of food to the foodbank and our Duke of Edinburgh Community Ambassadors were on hand to put it all away ready for being distributed to local families.

We also received £209 in donations. The foodbank uses this money to buy co-op vouchers so that families have the opportunity to buy fresh foods to go alongside the hampers of non perishable food and products.

We have another load of donations that will be dropped off next week.

Thank you to all of those that donated towards this valuable resource in our local community!

Children In Need 2023 – Bake Sale

Sixth-Form students organised a Bake Sale for Children in Need 2023.

Once again there was an amazing selection of cakes on sale and not a crumb left by the end of morning break.

Thank you to all staff and students who baked or donated cakes for this event.

A special mention for Luke, one of our Year 7 roving Ambassadors for his amazing Pudsey Bear cake – it was delicious.

A total of £278.19 has been raised for Children in Need from the bake sale fundraiser!

World Mental Health Day – Young Minds Yellow Campaign

Yesterday was World Mental Health Day and the 6th Form supported this by taking part in Young Minds Hello Yellow campaign. Photos of the day can be found at the bottom of this page.
They dressed in yellow and sold ribbons to raise awareness. By wearing yellow and donating to support the cause, they have helped show young people that they matter and that they deserve the support they need, when they need it, no matter what.
They managed to raise £85! Well done to all of those who took part.

Macmillan Bake Sale Photos – 29/09/2023

huge thank you to all of you who baked, donated or bought cakes today. There was an amazing spread. Below is a report from one of our community ambassadors describing today’s bake sale.

Today, Sixth Form ran the annual Macmillan Cancer Support Bake sale and it was a great success! We`ve had support in the form of baking and selling from both staff and Sixth form. We sold everything from cookies to cakes, rocky road to Bakewell tarts and all of them went down a treat with students and staff. One year 9 student who ran a Fairtrade stall earlier this week at parents’ evening, took home the leftover bananas to make some beautiful banana and chocolate chip cupcakes which were delightful!

A big thank you to all who baked, sold or bought cakes, we were able to raise £346.43 and this will be gratefully received by Macmillan Cancer Support. We hope you will all continue to support us with future bake sales and other fundraising events we have on the horizon.

Medicine Ball Challenge Update – 12/09/2023

Medicine Ball Challenge – Update

We are now on our 6th day and it’s fair to say that both are feeling the strain.

Mr Awdry is having to be creative in order to support the ball whilst writing on the board and Miss Slesser is realising just how much she moves around the site in a day.
The response from our students continues to be really positive and many conversations are continuing about how we can help and support each other to help our wellbeing.

Students are going out of the way to offer support and we have received freshly baked cake and offers of support between lessons.

On Tuesday evening Miss Slesser attended the committee meeting for the local foodbank where she was made to feel very welcome. The committee are delighted that our new Community Ambassadors will be working with them and had lots of suggestions as to how they might do this.  We will be having our first collection for the foodbank at the open evening this Thursday 14th September.

Thank you so much to all of you that have supported us so far, either through sponsorship or moral support – it is greatly appreciated.  Our current fundraising total is £669.

If you would like to sponsor us it can be done through either of the links below.
